Video Games and Team Bonding
Most of us have that one game that changed our lives. That one game that we would do anything to play again for the first time. That one game that changed our view on a subject or taught us a valuable life lesson. That one game that remains in our memories because of the time and moments we created by playing with our friends. That one game that will forever be “The Game”.
In my case, that game was Final Fantasy IX on the PS1. Warm summers, sitting cross-legged on the floor, a little too close to the TV, falling in love with the characters, the story and the world. There have been plenty of games over the years, but FFIX will always be that special one. It ignited my passion for video games and everything RPG related.
From raging at blue shells in Mario Kart with your friends to writing down all the combos of Mortal Kombat so you would be able to do awesome fatalities to the first moments of the pandemic when everyone was playing Animal Crossing - video games have a huge impact on our lives.
One of the things that I love the most about Velv is the passion we have for gaming. It’s part of our culture and who we are. It gives us all the opportunity to not only live those special gaming moments again but also bond with people who share the same passion, who understand the importance video games bring to our lives. By streaming on Twitch, we create a moment where we can all bond over our shared interests and be nerdy together and it’s amazing that we have a common goal of building that culture together.
Let’s face it, during this last year and a half it hasn’t been easy in a lot of different aspects, one of them being that moments for team bonding are limited, especially when most of us are still working remote. With our weekly Twitch streams, we all have a moment we can laugh, scream and talk while we play games together. It’s much more than a company activity – it’s a real-life activity where we can have the opportunity to create memories and express our love for gaming together.
